The Capital of Turkey, Ankara is the second largest city of Turkey with over 5 million people and third largest city as area. Ankara stretches in the middle of the Anatolia. The city is surrounded by tributaries of Kizilirmak and Sakarya rivers. Ankara is the heart of policy-making, education, health and technology.
Ankara is capital for many things. First of all Turkish Grand National Assembly is in Ankara. As a result of this there are many politics demonstrations in Kizilay. Almost every day you can see a lot of people with banner in Kizilay and of course many police to. But on the other hand Ankara grows up very quickly. Maybe with the growth we can overcome all problems.
Ankara is a university town, there are 18 universities and 3 other colleges. With these educational institutions there are more than 250 000 students in Ankara. For example Bilkent, Odtü and Hacettepe Universities are among the best 500 Universities in the world.
What about technology and industry? In Ankara there are companies for military, space technology, software technologies, nutriment factories and more. One example for software technologies in Ankara, NoktaCom Media Internet is created Izlesene.com, which is as Turkish YouTube known. It’s really popular in Turkey and another example from NoktaCom, they created Sinemalar.com, which is very similar to Imdb.com but the idea is a little bit different. They bring the technologies from the world to us. For now we make also copies from the other countries but I hope in the future we make or created technologies, which are not exist yet.
Another topic is the weather. Ankara is located 850 m high from the sea and 270 km far from the nearest coast. Ankara has a continental climate. Cold and snowy winters are fallowed by hot and dry summers. July and August are the hottest mounts. Best time to visit Ankara is between May and August. Actually there is not a sea in Ankara. But as a tourist you can make a lot of things. There are many museums and there are a lot of Buildings from the republic`s time. For example the old TBMM Building is one of the most important buildings in the republic history.
What is Ankara famous for? The Ankara cat or The Turkish Angora cat is a breed of domestic cat. The cat`s special characteristic is long, silky coats and elegant, sinuous bodies. The Cat`s eyes may be blue, green, amber, yellow or odd-eyed (e.g. one blue and one amber or green).
What I like best about Ankara is that we have a lot of options for everything. We can change from A idea to B. It is very easy. This ideas can be, what we make in our free times or which library we visit next. Actually I discovered that, when I came to Karabük. Big city means more comfort and small city means the opposite.
